Mentions of the Ruinous Abyss are periodically found in historical writings. Information about her whereabouts is conflicting. Avril the Younger believes that it should be sought in the Sea of Erebia; Shriman claims that she is somewhere in the Sea of Shadows. Both lived hundreds of years ago, and it was impossible for them to test the hypothesis: at that time, there simply were no technologies that would allow one to descend to such a depth!.. Since then, science has come a long way. Diving bells were invented, followed by suits for diving to great depths. There is only one catch: the lower the diver goes, the faster the supply of breathing mixture is used up.
