so i tried doing this twice, waited for the timer, hyped up over 50 ppl to do it in chat and come dance..... the timer hits 0 and nothing happens. everyones dissapointed and im embarassed. what is going on here?

Hmm, broken maybe? Did you see the quest progress bar filling up while dancing?
Usually in such quests you have to fill it up to 100% with combined efforts and you'll get some reward in the end according to your contribution.

the first time i seen and participated we ddint reach 50 people, the quest was active we were fillig it up with dancers, just didnt get the prize. so the next day, im waiting for the timer to countdown to 0 and nothing happens, the timer just resets and were all standing there like wtf. its really weird. Like the quest doesnt start after the timer gets to zero so idk maybe its bugged.

Yeah, seems like it. Try to report it to Amazon, hopefully they'll fix it.
It's a shame for quest with 50+ people participating to fail in this way.
