Hard to find out exactly what you had to do for the heart, but turns out you just have to run Alaric's Sanctuary Abyss Dungeon, so before accepting make sure you have a free lockout of it if you want to complete it that week. Nothing really special or anything gets auto completed after killing the final boss.
